Mask & Colors – Four Points by Sheraton Milan Center

From the United States and Russia to Milan. 15 years with the art of Rossano Ferrari

Personal exhibition “Mask & Colors” by the Italian artist Rossano Ferrari at the Four Points by Sheraton Milan in via Gerolamo Cardano, 1

Milan, December 2018 – On 19 December at 7.00 pm, the “Mask & Color” exhibition will be inaugurated in the elegant location of the Four Points by Sheraton Milan Center, which brings together the major works of the Modenese artist Rossano Ferrari, who, with his art, has conquered both the United States and Russia.

After having had life and work experiences in the United States and in Russia, the Hernandez Art Gallery in Milan presents Rossano Ferrari in a Milanese location that lends itself well to enhancing his work. In his works the artist manages to blend instinct with conceptuality, where his communication is revealed both in the use of color and subjects. Figures, faces that are masks, the masks of the soul, of life, of conventional partner schemes. A constant search for its truth, with irony, sarcasm and profound awareness, a research that comes from the study since the origins of man and civilization.
A contemporary artist, of our days, who does not forget the origins and looks forward to the future. Art that questions us and, with psychological reflexes, “unmasks” our intimacy.

A “multifaceted” artist who will present for the occasion the project “Loving Art”, the art / design that is worn, in fact it is a work with applied jewels that can be worn. The project was realized in collaboration with the jewelery designer Giovanni Aliotta In the first work, presented exclusively during the inaugural evening at the Four Points by Sheraton Milan Center, jewels are an integral part of the work itself, merging with the canvas, the colors and the subjects, to then be able to take and wear them the spectator is to be an integral part of the work itself, a sort of continuation and connection with the art in front of it.

There will also be the fashion design works of the “Sky shoes” line created in collaboration with Orchidea Nera luxury brand using Swarovski stones. Unique sneakers in the world, in the original version, of the walking art project, complete the series a pair of elegant décolleté combined with a mini clutch bag.

Stories of the sea – Arturo Delle Donne @Galata del Mare – Genova

“STORIES OF SEA”
ARTURO DELLE DONNE’S PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION”

FROM 15 NOVEMBER TO 16 DECEMBER 2018
Galata Museo Del Mare (GENOVA)

Thursday 15 November at 6.30 pm, the Hernandez Art Gallery presents, under the patronage of the Municipality of Genoa and the Mu.MA – Sea Museums and Migrations Institution and with the collaboration of the A.P.S. T0 Studio, to the Galata Museum of the Sea the show “Tales of the sea” of the photographer Arturo Delle Donne ; by Cristina Casero and by Andrea Tinterri . A path that looks at the sea as a narrative space: Racconti di mare; My small – scale world and The same sea – Different Point of View . The three projects mark a passage that deliberately confuses the observer: the work Racconti di mare re-read pages of maritime novels ( The old and the sea , Moby Dick , The revolt of the Ellinore , The Treasure Island ) with small scenes that the same Delle Donne builds and then take pictures . Literary episodes of mythical characters at the mercy of gigantic fish and violent waves, small-scale initiatory journeys to trigger a game of photographic illusions. My small – scale world is the intermediate passage, from the fictitious to the real, from the story to the story. Landscapes, ships and always sea, but in an optical deformation that simulates the small scale. Everything seems in miniature, but it is only an illusion of the medium, that indispensable passage to the contingency of everyday life.

The diptych The same sea – Different Point of View: contemporary migrations, the ship Diciotti , the thermal blankets that fill the space, the journeyand once again the sea as a platform through which to tell.

An exhibition that highlights that thin border between real and fantasy, between literary narrative and contemporary chronicle, in a unified path where the plans are intertwined and confuse.

Simon Hernandez – solo exhibition

Simon Hernandez

Archetypes and Totems in the expressionism of a wild Gauguin

“Archetypes and totems in the expressionism of a wild Gauguin” is the title of the exhibition that will be open at the Galleria Hernandez in Milan on Via Copernico 8 from 3 October, the conclusion of a journey that saw a highly sought-after outerwear capsule exhibited at White Milan, the leading Italian fashion show, from 21 to 24 September last.

Suprema, a company that deals with luxury outerwear, has entrusted itself to a master of painting, the Venezuelan Simon Hernandez, an artist who died in 1996, for the lining made from the Como silk fabrics of some leather garments, starting a bond with his daughter Consuelo who cares the Foundation named after the father.
The works of Hernandez seem to have been born for this happy, precious and not noisy union. Art as a message of life. An offer of creativity that meets the style of a dress and characterizes it without overpowering it.

It is the rediscovery of a contemporary artist who, unlike his brush, spirit and nationality colleagues, brought his land to Europe and here he imposed it with multi-colored and multi-ethnic pride.

In Milan you can enjoy Hernandez’s Venezuelan suggestions until 7 November in an explosion of South American surrealism that comes back with overwhelming topicality: more than 40 works retrace his artistic career among stylistic tightrope walkers, tropical archetypes that seem to have escaped from an archaic jungle and forests virile that offer themselves with feminine grace.
The particular intonation of figural poetry. The look. The vision in images. Everything contributes to interpreting the expression of a life and a dilated and phantom, yet true nature: a life that Simon Hernandez has painted and drawn in the interweaving of myth and chronicle, between dream and the present. The artist evokes nature as a daily mythology, sprained and pungent, ironic and humoral, darting with energy and ambiguous magic.

In his paintings, in the angular flashes of invention of which he allows himself to be ignited, Simon Hernandez has always been a painter to the very end, a painter in the detail of every evocation and of every color, in the shimmer of the sign or the bare brushstroke to capture with vitalistic emotion , each time, the mirage of the dreamlike in the shadow play of memory.
Between sarcasm, malice and melancholy, he explores the traces of a domestic anthropology of the soul in the gallery of his imagination. In his stories there are predominant figures, in addition to the screen teeming with lean and stripped colors, the legends and archetypes of Latin American culture, from Pablo Neruda to Lam, from Matta to Garcia Marques. Yet these echoes, these resurgent native Venezuelan lumps of He become European of which he mixes all the work, never become preponderant, never overwhelm the unique individuality of his accent.
